ACS reacts to Chinese claim
ITANAGAR, Feb 22: Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) has reacted to the statement of Chinese Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Hua Chunying objecting the visit of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to Arunachal Pradesh on the occasion of 29th Statehood Day.
‘China doesn’t have any right to show its objection in the internal affairs of India or term Arunachal Pradesh as disputed zone. Arunachal is the part and partial of India since time immortal, ACS said in a release.
Issuing Stapled visa to our people, repeated intrusion in our land and expressing resentment over the visit of Prime Minister are some of the diplomatic game of China that shows how they are intentionally trying to interfere in our land, he said.
ACS urged the Chief Minister, Nabam Tuki and Minister of Home, Kiren Rijiju along with all the students’ community to stand strongly against the People Republic of China, so that they do not dare to make such claims in future.
ACS appealed to the citizens of Arunachal Pradesh to raise their voice against China to save Arunachal from becoming another Tibet.
CALSOM aid for fire victims
ITANAGAR, Feb 22: The Cultural and Literary society of Mishmi (CALSOM) distributed relief materials to fire victims at Manthi Village, 19 KMs away from the Wakro. Leosha Khamblai’s house was reduced to ashes on the midday of 31st January while all the family members were away working at their agricultural fields.
The CALSOM members contributed blankets, cloths and Rs. 5000 in cash to the fire victims, while a social service was in progress by their clan members to construct a new house. The fire victims rued that despite filing a report promptly in the office of the EAC, Wakro, they were yet to receive any aid from the administration till date.
Meanwhile, a semi SPT building along with local kitchen was reportedly gutted in a fire accident at Kheel village under Toru circle in Papumpare on Saturday. Circle Officer of Toru, Khoda Bath informed that the owner of the house sustained minor injury during the accident. The house belonged to one Tana Meha.
Speaker visits Lali village
ITANAGAR, Feb 22: Speaker Nabam Rebia assured the people of Lali village under Kakoi circle a hanging bridge over Boginadi River which will connect the village and Govt. establishment areas.

RSS calls for unity in society
ITANAGAR, Feb 22: ‘Bharat (India) without Arunachal Pradesh is crippled and Arunachal Pradesh without Bharat is nonexistent’, opined Bhaiyyaji Joshi, All India General Secretary of RSS. He was addressing a huge gathering of dignitaries, women and youths at the Art & Culture ground, Naharlagun during his maiden trip to the state today.
“Our country is a land of vast diversity and this diversity is the richness of the country. Rich are those who have more and poor are those who have less. When India has more varieties, it is indeed our richness,” opined Bhaiyyaji.
We have to find out and cement the unique spirit of oneness that runs in the veins of all the countrymen and take our country forward, he said.
Referring to the vast deposit of resources both over and under the soil in our country, Joshi said that the almighty has blessed our land with abundant resources and have instilled our intellect with a generous mentality to use it for the betterment of the humanity.
“The RSS believes in and works for taking this mission forward by intensifying the unifying force of spirit found in all the Indians regardless of their language, believes, customs and traditions,” he said.
Joshi emphasized that our Indian society is basically liberal and assimilative because of its all encompassing roots of Hinduism. If this basic Hindu philosophy of respecting other faiths in equal term is accepted in the world then the roots of all international evils like terrorism, environmental degradation and economic hegemonization will be evaporated.
However, Joshi reminded that Hinduism is not just a worship system but a complete way of life deeply linked to Indian civilization. Nevertheless, the so called critics of RSS should understand the true philosophical postulates of the organization before pointing fingers to it, Joshi warned.

Education Minister warns private universities
ITANAGAR, Feb 22: Education Minister Tapang Taloh has expressed concerns regarding the establishment of a number of Private Universities in Arunachal Pradesh without the requisite infrastructure. He was speaking at a review meeting with representatives of Private Universities of Arunachal Pradesh on 22nd February at the Directorate of Higher & Technical Education, Itanagar.
Tapang Taloh exhorted that Private Universities should not be just Institutions to award Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates but should work coherently for the cause of imparting Quality Education in the State and set examples for others to follow.
He further, highlighted certain Standard Operating Procedures that the Pvt. Universities should comply with, like acquisition of land, development of quality infrastructures in the permanent site, offering of duly recognised courses among others. He cited the example of some private universities in other States which had jeopardised the career of many innocent students by issuing dubious Degrees.
The Minister Education desired that all the Private Universities should submit a detailed report on their present status along with documentary evidences to substantiate the acquisition of land, progress of infrastructure development, details of the courses started, the recognition of the courses from respective statutory bodies, the course wise enrolment, details of faculty and other staff recruited, the operating plan for the next one year with targets and milestones (both physical & financial). This report is to be submitted to the Directorate within 27th February’2015.
He further directed that all the Private Universities who have not set up their campuses should take immediate steps to start setting them up preferably from 1st week of March 2015.
CM hopes for a self reliant Arunachal
Itanagar, Feb 22: Speaking at the valedictory function of State-
Speaking on various concerns of his government, Tuki exhorted the public to cooperate with the various development projects and follow the same with discipline. “If you receive assistance for any particular scheme, you must execute the same and that will bring dividends,” he added. Tuki also spoke of the necessity of religious and cultural tolerance and to keep up the image of India as a great secular democracy.
Earlier, Minister Social Welfare Wanglin Lowangdong, spoke about the need to have quality education in the State and to inculcate discipline in young people together with moral and spiritual development which brings about maturity of the person. Lowangdong called upon young people to have determination and grit and exhorted added that “the need of the hour is to have dedicated teachers if young people are to progress in our state”. The Minister also spoke of the necessity of tolerance and the need to create an ambience in the whole of the country where people belonging to all communities and religions can progress together with freedom. Lowangdong also promised to allocate funds for the activities of DBYC.

NGO organizes cleanliness drive in Roing

Roing, Feb 22: A massive social service-
The programme started with a prep talk from the Organising Chairman and GS KJC Lapo Mikhu, who explained to the participants about the importance of keeping their town clean. Giving the example of the world's cleanest village, Mawlynnong, located 95kms from Shillong in Meghalaya, Mikhu said, "If they can, so can we".
A huge number of participants from all walks of life took part in the programme. After clearing the Central Rheko campus, the place where the participants had gathered, the volunteers moved on to clean the main market area, starting from the Welcome Gate of the town. "The market area is what a visitor first witnesses on entering our town. Keeping this area spectacularly clean will give out a much better image of our town to these visitors", said one of the participants. Gloves and masks were provided by the District Hospital, brooms by the UD department and plastic bags to collect garbage were provided by the KJC.
Garbage trucks were provided by the DUDA for proper disposal of the garbage collected. UPO DUDA along with his staff, and representatives of the Fire Department, also participated in the programme. Later, SHG KYA proceeded to clean the Statehood Day celebration waste, from the previous day, that was left behind at the general ground.

Smoking is the process of flavouring, cooking or preserving food by exposing it to smoke from burning or smouldering material, most often wood.
Smoking generally is of three type’s namely cold smoking, hot smoking and smoke roasting. Cold smoking is done at temperature between 20 to 30 degree Celsius. In this method the meat is hung first to develop a pellicle then can be cold smoked for long time to give some flavour. Hot smoking is done at 52 to 80 degree Celsius. Meat is exposed to smoke and heat controlled environment in this method. Smoking is done after pellicle develops. If the temperature rises more than 85 degree Celsius the meat shrinks, buckles or even splits. Smoke roasting is process in which smoking is combined with either roasting or baking. Smoking should be done in well ventilated area to Carbon dioxide poisoning.
Smoking is antimicrobial and antioxidant but smoking alone is insufficient for preserving food in practice until combined with other another preservation method. Smoke compounds adhere only to the outer surfaces of the food; smoke does not actually perforate into meat. Smoked meat may lead to many pathogenic diseases like listeriosis. Smoking of meat can lead to formation of potent carcinogens like benzopyrene that are comparable to those found in cigarettes. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are also present in smoked meat. Carcinogens then can lead to cancer especially in intestine. Smoked meat generally contains high amount sodium which increase blood pressure and cause heart failure. Harvard Medical School notes that eating smoked meat is strongly linked to develop diabetes. Smoked meat may increase diabetes by 19%.
Smoking should be done in combination with salt curing or drying. Drying or curing can render the interior of meat inhospitable to bacterial life, while smoking gives the vulnerable exterior surface an extra layer of protection.

Tuki gives away awards to winners of CM’s Trophy
ITANAGAR, Feb 22: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today gave away the trophies and cash awards to the winners and runners teams of the football tournament for Chief Minister’s Trophy at Indira Gandhi Park here.
Capital Complex, who retained the men’s football title, received cash award of Rs, 5 lakh along with the coveted trophy while the runners up Lower Subansiri was awarded Rs 3 lakh along with a trophy.
The best football player in men’s category from East Kameng was given cash prize of Rs.10,000.
Kurung Kumey, who won the women’s football title, was also awarded cash prize of Rs 5 lakh with trophy. Runners up Papum Pare was given Rs3 lakh with trophy. Best women football players Tamchi Yapi from Kurung Kumey was awarded Rs.10,000.

The CM gave away the CM’s Excellence Award for teachers amounting to Rs 50,000 and a certificate of excellence each to Tezu GHSS principal Ganpang Megu, Mirku Govt HSS headmaster Tosing Tayeng, Dikrong colony upper primary school TGT Pramatha Roy, Seppa Bazarline Govt HSS PRT Nisham Pao, Barpani upper primary school PRT Ten Chomo and Paarbuk Govt HSS TGT Tulasi Upadhyay.
The CM also announced Rs 3 lakh for the archery team, which won gold medal at 36th National Games in Kerala recently and Rs 2 lakh each for silver medalist in boxing and archery (Individual).
Prizes were also given to winners of state level painting competitions.
Earlier CM visited the exhibition stalls and appreciated the efforts and initiative of all.

Unsystematic approach
Dear Editor,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to highlight my grievances to the concerned authorities regarding the unsystematic approach being undertaken in the ongoing photo session for Aadhaar cards at Pasighat. Certainly, it’s for a good cause but masses have to suffer because of unsystematic procedures whether it’s smart cards or Aadhaar cards.
Hence, I would like to highlight some points. I reverently plead to the concerned authorities to issue a provisional slip or token for better operations.
Secondly, there should be special lines. Preference should be given to old age citizens and physically disabled people but all this moral concepts were obsolete in the ongoing photo sessions. I was an eyewitness when an old woman lost her bag in crowd and a man fell unconscious inside the unventilated compact room.
All these undesirable incidents can be avoided if proper system is in place.

Reflection on statehood
Dear Editor,
This is in response to the article in your daily on 20th February 2015 “Apang pleads PM for removal of lacunae in Statehood Act”
First let us rejoice the 29th anniversary of our statehood day, remember and celebrate 29 glorious years of Arunachal Pradesh. Even after 29 years we are still dependent on the centre for fund. To confirm this, on 18th February 2015 edition of your esteem daily current CM said “Arunachal depends on Centre for most of its needs: Tuki”
Late Bakin Pertin who opposed early statehood, and he spoke of Nagaland like Statehood Act for Arunachal but neither the public nor the political leaders at that time had the vision what would happen if bestowed upon the statehood. In a normal circumstance statehood is given to state that can sustain themselves even when central fund is low. Contrary to this norm, our leaders of yester years went out of the way to attain statehood. In contrast to our govt. of that time, in 1994 when central Govt. wanted to declare Pondicherry as a state; the political leaders of Pondicherry irrespective of their political ideology united to oppose the statehood and the central govt. withdrew their proposal eventually.
Removal of lacunae in Statehood Act will probably drag on forever; it is likely that we may not see the end of it in our lifetime. It was not possible even when both central and state government were ruled by INC. Now given the central and state govt. are of different political ideology, it is likely to play out without outcome.
The other reason is that AP is not important politically at the central politics because we have only two MPs. Political leaders of yester years are to be blamed for current Statehood Act. Even now leaders are working for their own survival rather than vision for the state.
Nevertheless we should continue demand for amendment of the Act for betterment of our children. People of my age group probably will bear the burden of not being good enough. Those people who were part the team that accepted the current Statehood Act some of them are already no more to see the effect of the Act. I hope PM will look into the matter to rectify or remove the lacunae in Statehood Act.

Hard work should be respected
Dear Editor,
Through your daily esteemed, I would like to high light the system which is running in Arunachal Pradesh. In this land of rising sun, it has very difficult for poor people to live as rich are becoming richer while the poor are becoming poorer in this state. It is very difficult for poor people to get job in any field.
Rich people's children lead a privileged life and need not work hard, they even need not study. But when there is job vacancy in any field, rich people buy that job through money and political connection. On the other hand, poor people who really have to work hard are left without opportunity. In spite of hard work he/she do not achieve their goal because of corruption. Ultimately, they lose their confidence and remain unemployed.
India is a democratic country where everybody should get equal priority. So I appeal to the govt of Arunachal Pradesh that they initiate a process and get rid of the system where hard work is not respected.

It’s a quite a relief to read the news that the Arunachal Cabinet decided to grant ST status to Yobin. They have done a good and just act, lifting up the grievances of a tribe that’s deprived of rights for 37 years (We’ve been counting!). We are grateful to the Chief Minister and his team and concerned departments. Their contribution will be engraved in the history of our community and Arunachal Pradesh in general.

Missed opportunity
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state had generated lot of hope among the people of state. Modi who attended as chief guest for statehood day celebration, flagged off AC Express Train service between Naharlagun and New Delhi and the Intercity Express between Naharlagun and Guwahati. He also laid the foundation stone of a 132 KV power transmission and distribution system project and unveiled the Itanagar Water Supply project. However apart from assuring that state would witness much more progress over the next five years as compared to what it has achieved in the past 28 years, he did not had much to offer to the people of Arunachal.
His speech lacked vision and there was no clarity over how he is going to ensure
faster development of state. Though he termed rail, air and road connectivity as
the most important aspects of development, Modi was silent on demand for construction
